SCA receives government funding so why do I need to pay tuition?
Answer

All independent schools, only receive 50% of the funding that the public schools receives per pupil.  We cannot operate with excellence on just what the government funding provides.

Can we receive a charitable tax receipt for our child’s tuition?
Answer

A significant portion of tuition fees at SCA are eligible for a tax deductible donation receipt according to CRA guidelines. On average, in recent years most parents receive a tax receipt for between 55-65% of the tuition amount paid. The Capital fee of $300.00 is fully eligible for a charitable receipt.

Does my child have to come from a Christian family?
Answer

At least 1 parent must be a Christian and be involved in their local church on a regular basis. Those applying will need to get a pastoral reference to attend Springs Christian Academy (see Admissions tab).

Why do I need to attend church to qualify for admissions?
Answer

As a school, we are part of the local church and believe that, as Christians, we are called to build the church of Jesus Christ. Our purpose for the school is to come alongside the parent(s) and reinforce what is already being taught and modelled in the home. Being involved and attending the local church is one of the basic fundamental priorities that we put an emphasis on.

Does SCA teach everything that Manitoba Curriculum requires?
Answer

Yes.  Parents can be assured that all subjects are taught with excellence and that our students often perform well above the Provincial Exam average. As well, we purpose to infuse God’s Word and Godly Principles into every subject we teach.

Our teachers all have their Bachelor of Education and have their Manitoba Teaching License. They are all Christians and are involved in their local church. We have teachers who have won awards provincially and nationally.

How does SCA handle controversial social issues?
Answer

SCA discusses topics from a Biblical perspective.  The Bible, not culture, is seen as our foundation.  We have real world discussions with a Biblical perspective, in an age-appropriate manner.

Does my child need to have top grades to attend SCA?
Answer

No.  Although SCA does place a high priority on learning, we recognize that not all children learn at the same pace.  We believe that each child has their own unique gifts and abilities. We have found that in our loving and supporting environment, children that have struggled academically can start to realize some of their full potential as we focus on the fact that God loves them and that they are created to be amazing.

Can my child attend University and/or have a successful career?
Answer

Our Alumni have gone onto successful careers such as entrepreneurs, financial services, lawyers, doctors, teachers, pharmacists, nurses, physiotherapists, engineers, pastors, carpenters, electricians, political science, media and communications, Internet Technology, computer science, among others.

Will Christian education shelter my child too much from the “real world”?
Answer

No.  Children are very impressionable and need to be taught the foundations of God’s Word to have a strong foundation to combat societal norms that contradict God’s best for people.  We are training our students to be leaders in whatever area that God has called them to be.  Their faith is the foundation for them to be strong in every area of their lives.
