Athletics

Training for godliness.

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

SCA Athletics Facility (Coming Fall 2026)

Programs Offered

Our athletic programs are offered for Grades 4-12 to encourage active lifestyles, fellowship and team building, as well as to develop their athletic skills. Our 595 Lagimodiere campus hosts many of the games and practices for all grades in one of it’s beautiful and spacious gyms, or outside on the large green space. The green space at this location has ample room, including a soccer field, beach volleyball pit, baseball diamond, outdoor hockey arena, and more. The 261 Youville campus is also equipped with a great practice gym and green space.

MINI SPORTS

Mini Sports are offered during the school year for students in Grades 5 and 6. These optional intramural soccer and basketball programs run in 8-week sessions and are typically held after school from 4:00–5:00 p.m. Mini Sports provide students with opportunities to build athletic skills while developing discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. At the conclusion of each session, awards are presented for Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player, and Christian Character.

In addition, SCA offers a Running Club for students in Grades 4–12 each fall, helping participants train for the Manitoba Milk Run.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

While Grade 5-6 participate in Mini Sports, Grades 7 and 8 enjoy playing volleyball, basketball, track and field, cross country and badminton outside of school hours. Our middle school teams compete against other independent schools around the city. We have 2-3 practices a week, 1-2 games a week, and 2-3 tournaments a season.

HIGH SCHOOL

Grades 9 through 12 enjoy curling, golf, volleyball, basketball, track and field, cross country, badminton, and soccer. Our high school teams compete in Zone 12 against other AAA teams within MHSAA, and often advance to compete at the provincial level. We have multiple practices and games a week, and 3-5 tournaments a season.

HEALTHY SCHOOLS

Every March at the Elementary Campus, the students celebrate “Healthy Schools”, with lots of activity and emphasis on being active and eating healthy foods! The month involves activity challenges and eating certain foods on themed days! For example, one day a week might be themed, “wear yellow, eat yellow”! The students LOVE these events, and our community’s amazing school spirit always shines through.

Eagles Academy

As part of the Grade 11 and Grade 12 Physical Education program, Springs Christian Academy offers an application-based, sport-specific training option in place of the regular PE class. Eagles Academy is designed to provide a high-performance athletic training experience for dedicated student-athletes while strengthening the overall success of our school’s athletic programs.

Currently, the Academy offers specialized streams in basketball and volleyball, with training sessions held in the mornings before the start of the school day.

COMMITTED

Shows up on time to every practice and game, is ready to play and give it their all.

RESPONSIBLE

A student-athlete who maintains good standing, is punctual, communicates with parents and coaches, takes are of their jersey, and respects game equipment.

HUMBLE

Celebrates their achievements when they reach a goal, but refrains from being overbearing or arrogant.

GRACIOUS

COMPETITIVE

Has passion and drive to compete and win; when down, does not give up.

PERSISTENT

TEAM PLAYER

One who thinks not only of their own individual achievements, but of the success of the entire team.

Work and train hard for your sport to not only win the prize, but to glorify God.

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating in the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

1 Corinthians 9:24-27
